Only 9 km from the city center of Basel a beautiful strip will be partially developed with mixed program. This strip of 800 meters long is situated parallel to the Rhein and goes from wide to narrow. The larger and wider part will mostly be filled with offices and shops.
In the narrow part the client wishes to create a new culture center; a new "cultural hotspot". This development offers the possibility to restore the relationship between the inhabitants of Pratteln and the beautiful scenery at the Rhein.

The beautiful location also has a challenging paradox: The sun and the noise come from the same direction.
Can we design a building, which filters the noise from the busy road and simultaneously create a public plaza where people can enjoy the sun and the magnificient views?

The building becomes a transition element. It can be seen as a big building composed out of small buildings. Therefore finding a dialogue with the context and the landscape monumentality.
