Located between Scheveningen Bad and Scheveningen, Scheveningen-Dorp is a peaceful, intimate place. Dune is set on the edge of this area. Situated in the coastal dunes, this site is marked by a red, twelve-sided cast-iron lighthouse. Dune sits at the foot of the lighthouse on the boulevard, and boasts uninterrupted views of the sea. The architecture of Dune strengthens the spatial identity of the dune landscape, the boulevard and the sea.

Named after its location in the coastal dunes, the building aims to enhance the features of the landscape in a natural way. It extends the line of the dunes towards the lighthouse to create almost a dune park – this establishes a direct connection between the structure and public space at Vuurtorenplein. The extended dune landscape incorporates recreational walking paths, and strengthens the visual unity of the area.
