Studioninedots' design for the Ertskade forms the last piece of the puzzle as part of Sporenburg Island's masterplan. This residential project is designed with utmost sensitivity to its surroundings. Luckily, the site can be extended beyond the land. Our scheme places a tower, the largest volume, on the water at the corner furthest away from the neighbourhood. This results in a low building facing the existing houses, which corresponds with existing building heights.
The highest point of the building will be situated on the water. In this way, wind nuisance and overshadowing will not be an issue for pedestrians or residents.

A stepped form reduces the building's scale to lend a friendly appearance, and the use of warm brick reflects the existing character of the neighbourhood. Three low-rise facades face the street and neighbourhood, mirroring the owner-occupied nature of the area. This enables the building to connect seamlessly and naturally with its surroundings.
The distinctive stepped form and softened appearance results in an iconic building that complements and strengthens the existing architecture of Sporenburg and its surroundings.
Importantly, the football field that currently occupies the vacant site will be retained and complemented with additional community facilities.
